Detailed Tangier Tour itinerary

Day 1: Tangier arrival

We at Morocco Trips - Morocco trusted travel company for Sahara Tours from Tangier - we organise Desert Tour in Morocco. Upon arrival in Tangier, you will be met and transferred by our car to your hotel. Depending on arrival time, you will visit the city. Overnight will be in your hotel.

Day 2: Tangier – Chefchaouen

We drive through the Rif mountains and Tetouan city, enjoying the views of the beautiful mountains until we get to Chefchaouen, a stunning village at the foot of the Rif mountains. The medina of Chefchaouen has a Spanish-style square surrounded by many funky arts and crafts stores, roof-top restaurants and cafes. Dinner and overnight will be in Chefchaouen.

Day 3: Chefchaouen – Fes

After breakfast we drive towards Volubilis, crossing via Wazan and other Rif villages. In Volubilis, we will discover the roman ruins and learn about the archeological site and its long rich history. After the visit to the ruins we will shift our way to Meknes city, the 17th century stronghold where we will stop for lunch and explore different sites, such as the historical huge walls of the medina, Bab Mansour Gate and Moulay Ismail mausoleum. After the visit to Meknes, we will drive to Fes, where you will spend the night at a riad.

Day 4: Fes Tour with local guide

We will first visit the medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its labyrinthine streets, medieval passages, and covered markets. After the medina, we will visit the historic El Quaraouyine Mosque, founded in the 9th century and the tomb of Fes's founder, Moulay Idriss. We spend the afternoon in the Nejjarine art museum, which is located on the site of the first schools and theological universities in Morocco (known as Seffarine and Bou Anania). You will find that the Moroccans prefer to visit the souks in the late afternoon because it is cooler and the daily chores are finished. We will visit the souks then to best enjoy the colors and life of the medina and city.

Day 5: Fes - Azrou - Midelt - Merzouga

We will depart from Fes on our way to Meknes, we will first make an excursion to nearby Volubilis, the remains of a Roman city which has some very beautiful floor mosaics and roman ruins, alsoMoulayIdriss, the burial place of the founder of Morocco’s first imperial dynasty. For some Moroccans it is a place of pilgrimage with a large tomb and nearby mosque. You continue to Meknes, the smallest and friendliest of the five imperial cities of Morocco. The old part of Meknes is beautiful and has a feel of the oriental and the Mediterranean at the same time. The immense city walls and gates lead the visitors’ imagination into times long gone.

Day 6: Merzouga

There we will visit the old royal palace and the old and traditional market of Rissani. There is also the opportunity to visit a traditional hammam. Once back in Merzouga, you will take your camel caravan in time to enjoy the sunset among the world's highest dunes. After participating in traditional Berber music and dance, you will spend the night under the silent desert sky filled with stars.

Day 7: Merzouga - Erfoud - Tinghir - Boumalne Dadès

We will wake up early to see the spectacular sunrise over the dunes before making our way back to the hotel for breakfast and a shower. We will cross the palm lined valleys of Tourog and Tinjdad to arrive to Todra Gorge. We will take a walk in the Todra Gorges and have lunch in a local restaurant before continuing to our accommodation in the Dades Gorge.

Day 8: Dades Gorges - El Kelaa Magona - Skoura - Ouarzazate

After breakfast we will take a walk in the gorge and then take the off road track to see the nomad caves. We will continue via El Kelaa Magona, Valley of the Roses and the Skoura oasis to arrive early evening in Ouarzazate. Tour from Tangier to Sahara with Morocco Trips (trusted travel company).

Day 9: Ouarzazate - Ait Ben Haddou - Telouet - Marrakech

After breakfast we will depart to Ait Benhaddou and visit the World Heritage Site. We will continue with a visit to the traditional High Atlas Berber village of Telouet and the Kasbah el Glaoui. We will have lunch in a local restaurant in Telouet before descending the Tizi-n-Tichka to Marrakech.

Day 10: Marrakech guided tour

After breakfast, you will have full day tour to visit Marrakech. The visit will include: the Menara gardens, a magnificent pool surrounded by flowers, the Koutoubia Minaret, the Saadian Tombs, the museum of Dar Si Said with the best display of Berber arts and crafts, and the Bahia Palace…lunch will be in local restaurant, after that we walk through the colorful Souks of Marrakech.
